By the number of concentrations, teachers, students, teaching assistants and by concert activity and the organization itself, Department of Wind Instruments and Accordion is also one of the major departments of Academy.
The offer of instruments is diverse and numerous: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, French horn and accordion.
Professors who have successfully delivered classes and produced generation of wind players included: Aleksije Radan, Bećir Drnda, Đorđe Busančić, Rajmund Likić, Vinko Ulčar, Jirži Ševčik, Josip Jurić, Prerad Detiček, Stanko Selak, Šerif Rustempašić, Davor Bušić, Izudin Čavrković and, over the past ten years, Vedran Tuce, Sakib Lačević, Vladimir Puškaš, Žarko Perišić, Dragan Sremec, Dario Teskera, Marin Zokić and Nenad Vasić.
Lejla Klepo-Hadžić is engaged as an artistic assistant at the Department, Admir Vračo is a teaching assistant at the concentration in Trumpet, Mirna Mlikota is a teaching assistant at the concentration in Flute, and Branko Mlikota is a teaching assistant at the concentration in Clarinet.
A significant and new addition within the Bologna reform was the introduction of concentration in saxophone. Besides, 2005 witnessed the beginning of concentration in accordion, which was added to this Department, and which resulted in a great interest by applicants. The concentration was led by prof. Alma Flammersberger, and presently the accordion is taught by Belma Šarančić-Nahodović. Assoc. prof. mr. Sakib Lačević is Head of Department.
